   马修连恩是一位出生于圣地亚哥、寄居于加拿大、却又因为热爱大自然而四海漂泊的歌手和作曲家，也是一位热衷环保事业并用音乐来唤起人们环保意识的艺术家。
      马修连恩最有名的大概不是这首独角兽，但本人却最喜欢这首，很有味道的一首歌，越听越有味，听不腻的那种。当然，其他的也有不错的，比如《布列瑟农》。
      独角兽，世界上最纯洁、最与众不同的生物，因为纯洁，所以无法理解人世的庞杂，因为与众不同，所以常常遭到误解。独角兽成为神秘和圣洁的象征。传说只有最纯洁、最与众不同的人得以看见。当马修连恩的高中死党，坚信独角兽的存在，而要被送进精神病院时，马修写了"独角兽"这首歌，送给他。每个人心里，不都有些既简单、却又和别人不一样的想法，随着年龄渐长，社会化程度提高，我们也就忘了自己相信的事，开始相信别人要我们相信的事。其实，每一个人的心里都有一只独角兽，打开你的心，就看得到。
      我向来反对将英文歌词翻译过来，因为就像英国人无法正确的、忠于愿意的将中文翻译成英文一样，有些东西是文化背景下藏于语言中的，换一种语言，就没了它所隐含的内容或者说效果。尽管如此，还是从网上找了个翻译的，仅供参考。
